Thanks Vanessa! Yeah the carbs allowed from your vegetables, but then only 20 more carbs in the first 2 weeks (induction period) are a real challenge. Thank God diet sodas are allowed, but the induction phase needs "food from home" planning right down to the brass tacks.

Well I'm a strong believer in the Atkins Diet, the downside...you need alot of commitment and self control.
I've always been a yo-yo dieter flutuating pounds here an there but Atkins really worked for me. I went and bought *Atkins for Life* it comes with a motivational cd (never listed to :S), recipes and food chart which layed out the proper foods to eat on the net carb scale.
The first stage is the worst, limiting yourslef to only 20 net carbs per day. To give all who have never tried this diet a lil insight to comparisson...1 can of regular pop contains atleast 38-48 carbs and you had to minimize your intake to 20 net..ugh it was tough.
The main thing stay focused on your goal..eat smart by making the most logical food choices..get plenty of rest so your up to par and drink PLENTY of water! LOL
All the power to ya!!!!! =)

At first I thought I could not continue with Atkins after my 1st 5-lb water weight loss, but then I noticed I had not put an exercise programme in place for 2 months. (how silly!)
The first week and a half was the hardest as I eliminated starches. (Weakness of muscles, quivering, having to sit down more frequently, a few headaches and cravings.) Then staying off of starches became infinitely easier as 2 months passed! I look at them and dont even think about putting them in my mouth because the desire is just not even there.
I have been comparing Atkins to a diet - "Dr. Abravanel's Body Types" - I used to use when younger, and wondering now about peoples' "body types" and Atkins. I am also trying to make Atkins flexible and easier to do regarding some of the dietary requirements I adhere to during times of "fasting" in the Eastern Orthodox Church. ( I am a Christian.)
I have a handful of dedicated workmates at my second job who swear up and down by Atkins for their success and one who has followed it for 5 years and is very healthy. Would anyone like to keep an Atkins thread going to share recipies, exercise, and success?
